| Problem: When NSP Pro for Windows NT is used with a nonstop power supply, the program may not be executed in accordance with the settings in setup file. For example, when a power outage occurs, the NSP Pro usually makes the power supply initiate battery backup mode of operation to wait for AC power recovery (for a user-definable period of time). However, contrary to normal sequence, PC immediately shuts down Windows NT. Causes of the problem: The following possibilities are suspected: (1) UPS Service function of Windows NT is initiated at the same time with NSP Pro If the UPS Service function of Windows NT is booted, it conflicts with the operation of NSP Pro. When a power outage occurs, the UPS service immediately makes the Windows NT shut down prior to the shutdown sequence control by NSP Pro. (2) The interconnection cable between the nonstop power supply and PC is faulty or different from specified RS232C cable. RS232C straight cable (with D-Sub 9-pin connectors) is used to interconnect the nonstop power supply and PC. If a cross-cable is mistakenly used in place of straight cable, the NSP Pro program would not be executed correctly. Solutions: (1) Stop (or disable) the UPS Service function
of the Windows NT. |
